Middle School Classes

Middle School Drama & Improv

Thursday 3:00-4:00

Our middle school drama class introduces students to the fundamentals of theatre arts through collaborative activities and performance. Key topics include basic acting techniques, improvisation, character development, voice and movement, and stage direction. Students also build communication skills, self-confidence, and teamwork through group projects and script analysis. Step into the spotlight in Middle School Drama & Improv—where your imagination is the script and every class is a new adventure. From high-energy warm-ups to laugh-out-loud improv games, you’ll build quick-thinking, confidence, and stage presence while building supportive friendships.

Middle School Musical Theatre 

Thursday 4:00-5:00

Grades 6-8th

In this exciting class, students will unleash their creativity and passion for performing on stage. From singing and dancing to acting and improvisation, this class will guide students through the magical world of musical theatre. Through a series of fun and interactive activities, students will learn the basics of stage performance, vocal technique, and choreography from different musical theatre genres and styles. In addition to developing their performance skills, students will  work on team-building, confidence-building, and self-expression. With a focus on collaboration and creativity, this class will provide a nurturing and supportive environment for students to grow as performers and individuals.

Middle School Show Choir - NEW!!!

Thursday 5:00-6:00

Show choirs are loud, colorful, and perfect for MainStage Middle Schoolers.  Our new show choir is meant to enhance the performer’s level of musicianship, expand their performance repertoire, and provide a higher level of performance experience.  Show Choir covers every era and genre of music, including but not limited to Classical music, modern Jazz, Hip Hop, Pop, Gospel, Americana, World music, and Broadway show tunes.  Imaginative staging, choreography, and costuming will be added to create magical performances for our MainStage family and community.

Strength & Conditioning for Dancers – Intermediate

Monday • 3:30–4:15 PM

Great dancers aren’t just trained-they’re strong. This class complements technical dance training by developing the strength, stability, and flexibility needed to execute skills safely and confidently. Dancers focus on core strength, proper body alignment, ankle and hip stability, injury prevention, balance, flexibility, and overall athleticism to support stronger leaps, turns, and control.

Jumps, Turns & Technique – Intermediate

Monday • 4:15–5:00 PM

Take technique to the next level through structured progressions and across-the-floor combinations. Dancers will refine turns, leaps, kicks, and jumps while improving placement, coordination, flexibility, strength, and control. This class builds clean, confident technique for all styles of dance.

Dance 5 (Tap & Jazz Combo)

Monday • 6:15–7:30 PM

An accelerated middle school training class for dancers with 5+ years of experience. Focus includes tap and jazz technique, musicality, performance quality, and more advanced progressions. Dancers refine skills such as turns, leaps, and rhythm precision while preparing for higher-level training.

Boys Only Dance (Taught by Brennan Freeman)

Monday • 6:30–7:30 PM

A high-energy class designed specifically for boys. Taught by Brennan Freeman, this class builds strength, confidence, coordination, and performance quality through hip hop, jazz, musical theatre, and commercial movement. Fast-paced, athletic, and fun in a supportive environment.

Dress Code: Tight-fitting dancewear / athletic wear + Black Tap and Black Jazz (nude turners also allowed for class, but recital will use black Jazz)

Advanced Tap & Jazz / Advanced Triple Threat

Monday • 7:30–8:30 PM

A high-level Broadway-style training class focusing on advanced tap and jazz technique. Dancers work on precision, musicality, performance quality, and challenging combinations inspired by musical theatre and commercial choreography. Designed for experienced dancers with 6+ years of training.

Hip Hop 2

Tuesday • 5:00–6:00 PM

 Grades: 3–7

A fast-paced, high-energy hip hop class with a new combination each week. Dancers build coordination, musicality, strength, confidence, and memorization skills while learning diverse hip hop styles in a fun and engaging environment.

Dress Code: Athletic Dancewear ( can be baggy for this class only!) Sneakers that are clean on the bottom ( to protect the floor!)

Dance 3 Intermediate

Tuesday • 6:00–7:00 PM

Grades: 3–6

A jazz and technique-based class for motivated dancers. We will also focus on basic tap skills! Focus includes turns, leaps, kicks, flexibility, and performance quality. Dancers may optionally participate in a recreational competition rehearsal following class.** Meeting to be held for those interested TBA.

Advanced Hip Hop

Tuesday • 7:15–8:15 PM

 Grades: 8 & Up

A high-intensity hip hop class with new choreography weekly. Focus includes advanced musicality, style, stamina, precision, and performance quality. Fast-paced, energetic, and designed for experienced dancers.

Dress Code: Athletic dancewear + Clean sneakers

Advanced Acro

Wednesday • 3:00–4:00 PM

 All Ages (Placement Required) (6-18) 

Advanced tumbling class for skilled acro dancers working on walkovers, back handsprings, aerials, and advanced progressions. Focus on strength, flexibility, control, and safe technique.

Intermediate Acro II

(Grades 6–12)

Wednesday • 5:00–6:00 PM

 Grades: 6–12 (11-18) 

Progressive acro training for older students focusing on strength, flexibility, walkovers, handsprings, and connecting skills. Emphasis on control, safety, and proper technique.

Middle School Triple Threat

Wednesday • 5:00–6:00 PM

 Grades: Grades: 6–8 (11-14) 

Tap and jazz training through musical theatre combinations. Builds foundational technique, rhythm, and performance quality while preparing dancers for stage-based choreography.

Dress Code: Leotard + Black Footless Tights, Tap & Jazz Shoes, Ballet skirt and warm up can be worn for beginning of class!

 Grades: Grades: 6–8 (11-14) 

Continuing ballet technique with barre, center, and across-the-floor progressions. Focus on strength, alignment, flexibility, and classical ballet vocabulary.

Advanced jazz technique class focusing on turns, leaps, jumps, flexibility, and performance execution at a pre-professional level.

Combo 4 Advanced

Thursday 5:15-6:30

Grades: 3–6

Designed for experienced and dedicated dancers, this advanced-level class focuses on refining jazz and tap technique while preparing students for the next level of training. Dancers will build strong technical foundations through advanced turns, leaps, flexibility, strength, musicality, and performance quality.

This class is intended for students who are serious about their dance education and committed to excellence. Company members will have the opportunity to participate in competitions, with required rehearsals scheduled outside of regular class time.

Because consistency is essential for growth and team success, an attendance policy will be strictly enforced. Dancers are expected to come prepared, work with focus and determination, and maintain the high level of commitment required of our competitive program.

Beginner-to-advanced pointe training focusing on strength, alignment, balance, and classical ballet technique. Requires fitting and approval.
